Our Founder
Owen "Oj" Macklin
Owen “Oj” Macklin has cemented his reputation in Pittsburgh as a certified personal trainer and the creative force behind OJ Macklin Fitness, an independent gym celebrated for its personalized approach to weight loss, strength training, and conditioning for clients spanning from everyday fitness enthusiasts to elite athletes.

Grounded in a background of athleticism, Oj's fitness journey was catalyzed by his standout performance as an all-state football player at Perry Traditional Academy and his collegiate years at Lane College, a distinguished Historically Black College and University (HBCU). It was during a challenging period of incarceration that Oj underwent a personal transformation, fostering a deep passion for health and fitness.

Amidst adversity, Oj developed a profound commitment to self-improvement, diving into literature, physical exercise, and nutrition, while honing his understanding of human physiology. This transformative phase led to his certification as a personal trainer, sparking his mission to inspire others through fitness.

As a co-owner of Club Elevation, Oj has garnered widespread recognition, including a noteworthy Proclamation by the Pittsburgh City Council in 2017, naming December 12th as Club Elevation Day, and the esteemed 2022 Men of Excellence award from the Pittsburgh Courier. However, Oj's proudest achievement stems from the measurable impact he has had on his community, facilitating the shedding of over 4,000 pounds among Pittsburgh residents of all generations through his effective methodologies.

Fueled by an unyielding dedication to drive positive change, Oj founded the OJ Macklin Foundation in 2022, a nonprofit organization committed to enhancing physical and mental well-being for youth and families through comprehensive education and mentorship programs. With a specific focus on underserved communities, Oj envisions a future where health inequities are eliminated, enabling individuals to lead healthier, more enriching lives.
